College Students Spending More Time on Computers

How I Overcame
Difficulties in Learning English
Like many other English learners, I found a lot of difficulties in
learning English. Firstly, I found it difficult to understand what I
read because most English words have more than one meaning.
Besides, I found it difficult to write idiomatic English or
translate Chinese into idiomatic English. Finally, my oral
English was weak because I had no opportunity to communicate
with native English speakers. Although I often read aloud, this
didn't prove to be an effective way to improve my spoken
English.
But I didn't lose heart in overcoming these obstacles. I tackled
English vocabulary in two ways. First, I tried to understand and
memorize the specific meaning of a word in its context. Second,
I enlarge my vocabulary by breaking words up into roots andaffixes and memorize them in connection with the words of the
same roots or affixes. To overcome Chinese English, I tried to
think in English directly. Although I haven’t had any
opportunity to communicate with native speakers, I have tried to
improve my spoken English by listening to English broadcasts
and writing English compositions.
These experiences have
turned out to be effective. I am feeling very confident in myself
while sitting here for passing my degree English today.

【模版例文】
How I Finance My College Education? With
the rapid development of higher education in China, more high
school graduates admitted, exclusively the government can no
longer finance universities and students must pay at least partly
for their schooling.
There are various ways for a student to pay his tuition and fees.
To begin with, if the student is quite excellent in his studies, he
can apply for scholarship. Secondly, especially in China, he can
always depend on his parents for all kinds of expenditure,
including living allowances. Then, he can choose to turn to the
bank to for a loan to pay his education, which he can repay after
graduation. If he finds the entire above not desirable, he still has
another road to take-to do a part-time job and work his way
through college. In my case, I am fortunate enough to be born
into a well-to-do family and have no difficulty having my
parents pay for all my fees. as a college student, I dislike a
totally dependent existence, so I am working part-time as anewspaper-boy to help support myself. And I am still studying
hard, hoping to win a scholarship one day so that I can be
wholly self-reliant and independent.

Is a Test of Spoken English Necessary
In many kinds of English tests such as CET (College
English Test), TEM (Test for English majors), etc. a test of
spoken English will be optional. Some people consider that it is
unquestionably necessary to hold a test of spoken English in
China because spoken English is as important as written English.
Both of them are effective communication ways for English
speakers. But some-times even those top students who are good
at grammar and writing skills find that it is difficult to express
their thoughts freely when speaking. A test of spoken English
will make students attach more importance to oral English, and
thus help them with their communicating skills.
On the other hand, there are also people who hold that goodreading, writing and translating skills would be enough for the
average English learners. College students are already under
great pressure from their study. Another required test will be a
burden to them.
In my opinion, I believe that a test of spoken English will
do more good than harm. And I shall make all my efforts to
practice and improve my spoken English.

My Ideal Job
People with different personalities, backgrounds and
interests will have different opinions on what an ideal job is. To
choose an ideal job and prepare for it is a long way for
everybody.
For me, my ideal job position would be in arts management.
I'm quite interested in music but I'd like to broaden my
perspective a bit. I would like to work in a company concerning
arts and having wide room for my development, i envision
working in the city, but probably in a city that has lots of green
and open spaces. I need to be able to reach the mountains in a
couple of hours, so I think that the suburbs of Beijing are
suitable. I would like to be professional at work. I believe my
colleagues will be dedicated to their jobs and love the musical
and artistic world.
Now I am a sophomore majoring in music. I've received
professional training of music, so I feel confident that after

Need A Master Degree or Not
Nowadays, most people want to enter graduate school. In
fact, this desire has grown considerably in the past few years.
Students struggle to pass the graduate school entrance exam, to
survive the pro-gram, and find a job at the end of it. They readmany exam preparation books. They may also attend special
"exam preparation" seminars and courses. There are some
reasons for such phenomenon.
First is the general perception that a graduate school
diploma, a master's degree, is needed for getting a better job.
Second is that some students might not be sure what they want
to do, and a few more years inside the courtyards of academic
seems desirable.
In my opinion, this is not reasonable. I don't deny that a
few passed and went on, but the majority failed and finally
wiped away their valuable times. So we don't have to study for
the master degree. Never forget the old saying: every road leads
to Rome!

A Friend to Remember
Sophia was one of my best friends in college. She was a
tall girl with big eyes and short hair.
Her family was poor because her father died when she was
still a child. In spite of this, she was very optimistic and never
lost heart. She struck people as a strong-minded and
self-confident girl.
And that was why I admired her a lot. One of her favorite
quotations was "tomorrow is another day" and she always
encouraged herself with Scarlett' s spirit when she was faced
with difficulties.
We had a lot in common. We both liked singing, reading
and shopping. Singing songs together with her was a lot of fun. Ienjoyed my college life very much with her company. Now she
is working in another city, and we hardly have any chance to see
each other. However, she will always be my best friend.
